Backup Call Notifications

There are times when push notifications are just not enough. Bad cellular network or roaming limitations are often a big reason why you simply can not be notified in time. While we have been offering the backup SMS notifications for some time now, we are happy to announce a new CarLock feature – Backup call notifications. iPhone users may find this new feature especially useful as they can set their phone to ring and vibrate even when “Do Not Disturb” is enabled.

Just like backup SMS notifications, we offer backup call notifications as a paid add-on that you can enable only when you need it.

How to Set up Backup Call Notifications

You can upgrade your account with the backup call notifications by logging in to my.carlock.co using your CarLock account.

When logged in, click on the “Settings” tab and expand “Call notifications settings“.

If you enable call notifications, the CarLock system will give you a call every time there is an alert.

With my.CarLock you can even choose to be notified by CarLock only in specific situations when the call notifications are enabled. (For example, you can choose to  get a call only when your car’s engine starts.)

Add CarLock Alert Phone Number to Contacts

This is the CarLock call notification number. Add it to Contacts and name it “CarLock Alert”. We recommend choosing a different ringtone for this contact.

How to Make My iPhone Ring When Do Not Disturb is Enabled

Backup call notifications add-on enables iPhone users to get notified when “Do Not Disturb” is enabled. You can simply add the ‘CarLock Alert’ contact to Contacts and set on the Emergency Bypass. If your phone is running iOS 9 or older version, this process is not so easy, but it is still possible to do so. For more information on how to do this, please read our How to Make My iPhone Ring When Do Not Disturb is Enabled guide with step-by-step instructions.
